Autumn Sky is an inquisitive six-year-old girl on a journey to the polling place with her parents for the first time. Along their quest, Autumn questions everything adults get to vote on in their community.

I Can’t Wait To Vote is a great introduction to civic engagement, understanding representation, and how all of us have a say in our local, state, and national government.
The Story
A Message from the Author:
I didn't grow up in
civically engaged home...
Unfortunately
I didn’t understand the power of voting until I was an adult
who had already gone through what I now call, “the
engaged-to-disengaged” cycle. Like many across the
country, I fell into the mindset of “my vote doesn’t matter,
So why bother?”
But having my daughter made me realize I could no longer
disengage–I wanted to ensure a better future for her.
So I took time to re-educate myself on history, civics, and
voting rights. I learned quickly in order to be heard,
represented and see progress made locally and nationally,
I needed to participate.
I also realized that sometimes voting feels daunting
and obligatory but it doesn’t have to be! I want it to feel like a celebration–fun and exciting to exercise our rights! Running with the idea of “excited to be engaged”–
I Can’t Wait To Vote was born.

2018 -A Vision to Engage.
In 2018, I launched I Can’t wait to Vote as a Campaign to engage my friends, family and local community. I launched the signature T-shirts and held voting registration drives.
Months into the pandemic and pregnant with my second child I was inspired to write the Children’s Book version of “I Can’t Wait to Vote.” As I watched civil unrest and protests break out all over the country, I kept asking myself ‘what can I do?’ And in that exact moment all I could do was write and dream up a book to help sow excitement and enthusiasm around civic engagement–something I could teach my children. I wanted them to know how important it is to use our voice for positive change in all areas of our lives. I self-published the paperback book in September 2020 and the Hardcover in 2022. Since the launch of the book I’ve become an Amazon Best Selling Author, featured in the National press and have had the opportunity to speak at schools and for local organizations.
Since inception, this has been a labor of love and a side project. But now it is time to give I Can’t Wait To Vote, real wings to fly. Through your support and contribution, this fundraising campaign will give me an opportunity to expand my reach and extend educational efforts with the book into schools and youth organizations but also start building the educational resource side on the website and online.
